Do I need to cancel my part-exchange tax and insurance?
✅ Yes – but only after handover.
✔️ Notifying the DVLA removes the car from your name and cancels road tax
✔️ DVLA will contact you about any refund
✔️ Contact your insurer directly to cancel insurance
Important: Both road tax and insurance must stay active until handover so you can drive legally.
Do I need to tell the DVLA after I part-exchange?
✅ Yes! You’ll need to notify the DVLA after handover.
You can do this:
✔️ Online, or
✔️ By posting the yellow slip (V5C/3)
Have your V5 reference number ready (we recommend taking a photo).
